JOIN THE BAND

The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Police Pipes & Drums is open to all sworn, reserve and non sworn employees of any law enforcement or corrections agency, military law enforcement and firefighters.  Exceptions to these requirements are made on a case by case basis and are at the discretion of the band membership.

A strong commitment to attending rehearsals and performances and individual practice is required.

The band meets every Monday night in Martinez from 6:00pm to 8:00pm for rehearsals.  Beginning bagpipe and highland drumming lessons are offered free of charge during these hours to those committed to joining the band.  We offer referrals to instructors affiliated with the band who teach at an hourly rate as well.

McCallum pipe chanters, reeds, Andante Drums and harnesses are provided to band members.  Members are responsible for their own bagpipes, practice chanters, drum pads and drum sticks.

When new members have demonstrated their commitment to the band and their competence with the music, they will be provided with most uniform items at band expense including:  Kilt, horsehair sporran, kilt hose, flashes, Glengarry, hackle, spats, belt, Inverness cape and bag cover.

To inquire about joining the band, e-mail:

Pipe Major Gary Gifford               reedwrangler@aol.com
Drum Sergeant Terence Wong      terence@greenpanthers.com
