Under contract, Deputy Sheriffs provide security for court
proceedings, as well as Court Commissioners. The Marshall's Office, with
its accompanying duties pertaining to the Courts, was merged with the
Office of the Sheriff in 1988 and now constitutes the Court Security
Division within the Custody Service Bureau. The Court Security Division
provides security for seven court facilities in Contra Costa County by
staffing Bailiff's, Security Deputies and entry-screening personnel.

Unit
The Sheriff's Transportation Unit has several functions which
include:

Transporting subjects who have been
arrested on our warrants by other agencies.

Transporting inmates from other county
and state facilities throughout California on removal orders endorsed
by judges.

Transporting inmates to all of the
Sheriff's detention facilities within Contra Costa County.

Transporting inmates to all courts
within Contra Costa County.
