Due to a Countywide Hiring freeze, recruit testing has been suspended for Deputy Sheriff Candidates.

* However, the Basic Academy will offer the POST Entry Level test on the following dates and times for non-affiliated recruit positions:

Sat. April 26, 2008 9:00 am & Sat. May 10, 2008 9:00 am

Future Test Dates for Deputy Sheriff Recruits will be posted on the website as soon as the dates are known. Thanks you for your interest in the Contra Costa County, Office of the Sheriff.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office is now accepting P.O.S.T. "T" scores.

Documented scores of 48 or higher within the past 12 months will validate the written test. The T-score will only validate our test if you HAVE NOT failed a Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff written exam or submitted a T-score within the past six (6) months. However, you can use your T-score after the six (6) months has expired.

Candidates must still successfully complete the Agility test, which will be held at 10 a.m., the same day as the written test.

Mailing Address

You can either mail your application to the Recruiting Office, 724 Escobar Street, Martinez, 94553, or bring it with you to the exam along with a picture ID (Driver's License, Military ID, or Passport.)

The Day of the Test

Doors open 15 minutes prior to the test...The test begins promptly at the scheduled time...NO LATE ARRIVALS WILL BE ADMITTED.

PLEASE, NO CHILDREN ALLOWED AT THE TEST SITE.

Lateral Candidates

If you have graduated from an academy and have a POST certificate you will be considered a LATERAL candidate. Therefore, you are NOT required to take a written examination. Please contact our Lateral Recruiter @ 1-877-4-DEPUTY and choose option 3.
