Disbursement of Funds

After a Sheriff’s sale or collection of monies pursuant to judgment enforcement, the Sheriff will distribute the proceeds to the person(s) so entitled. Except as otherwise provided by statute, the proceeds will be paid within 30 days after being received by the Sheriff.

Please note, when the proceeds received by the Sheriff are in the form of a check or other form of non-cash payment, the proceeds are not received for the purposes of this section until the check or other form of non-cash payment has actually been honored (or cleared) upon presentation for payment (Code of Civil Procedure § 701.820).
