Instructions to Sheriff
An important document the Sheriff receives in any civil enforcement
action or service request is the Letter of Instructions from the person
requesting the action. Without proper instructions signed and dated by
your attorney or you, if you do not have an attorney, the Sheriff cannot
proceed with your request. The Letter of Instructions tells the Sheriff
what service to provide or what enforcement action to perform. Sheriff’s
instruction forms accompany most information guides for each type of
process or enforcement action. If you do not find the type of process or
enforcement action listed, you may obtain a General Sheriff’s Instruction
form below. Sheriff’s instruction forms require Adobe Acrobat Reader.
The General Sheriff’s Instruction form may be used if your service
request or enforcement action is not listed under the Enforcement or
Service sections.
