The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff Transportation Unit is comprised of one Sergeant, 24 Deputy Sheriffs, and one Clerk Specialist.
This dedicated group of individuals is responsible for transporting inmates daily between the Superior Courts in Contra Costa County and our three detention facilities. These services enhance the judicial process by providing safe transportation and the timely appearance of inmates in court.
Deputies assigned to the unit are required to possess a Class B driver's license, as well as a passenger transport and air brake driver certification. The Transportation Unit utilizes 20 vehicles including large and medium capacity buses, vans, SUVs, and cars. The unit transports an average of 100-180 inmates per day.
